Faridabad:3 May(National24news.com) Homerton Grammar School, Sector –21 A, Faridabad
commemorated ‘UNESCO WORLD PRESS FREEDOM
DAY’
The theme was to enlighten the students with the fundamental
principles of press freedom and their independence. Also this enabled the
students to critically think and have an informed view point on any subject.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of Mr.
Bijender Bansal from Dainik Jagran, Ms. Amrita Ghosh from The Times of India,
Mr. Raghuvanshi from Aaj Samaj, Mr. A.D. Bhatt from HT Pace and Mr. Ashok
Bhartwal from Kalash Jagran among other dignitaries. The Founder Principal of
the school Mr. Kuldip Singh warmly welcomed the dignitaries and felicitated
them with mementos. Our esteemed guests from the press enlightened the audience
with their experiences and gave an insight into the life of a journalist and
that every reporter has his own perspective of an event and is motivated to
give authentic and genuine information to the people.
The students delivered speeches on topics highlighting
various aspects of the 21st Century media. This was followed by an
interactive session between media persons and students wherein a lot of queries
were duly answered by the guests. Roma, a student of class 12th wished
to be enlightened with what must be done to bring media and information into
the education system at school level.
Ankit of class 12th wanted to know whether it was true that ‘Freedom
of Speech’ is a right for the citizens but a power to the media and whether the
media needed more freedom than they currently enjoy. The students were full of
enthusiasm and zeal which they clearly demonstrated through the posters made by
them.
